Document Media & Attachments (Mobile)

User Personas: Project Manager | Field User

Snap photos and videos or upload them from your device library while creating documentation for your project from the field. You can also add text and freehand markups to images in the mobile app.

Attachments such as PDFs can only be added to documents via the web, but they may be viewed on the mobile app.

To perform the actions in this article, you need the General Permissions - Create and Edit permissions for the respective document type. See Set Up User Permissions, or contact an Admin user to adjust your permissions.

View Document Media & Attachments from Mobile

  1. Go to the document log page and locate the document with media that you wish to view
  2. Select the document to view, then select the Media tab
  3. Select the media that you wish to view in full screen
    • Zoom in and out on an image by double tapping or using the pinch gesture on your device screen
    • When zoomed in on an image, drag a finger on your device screen to pan through the image
    • Use the play/pause, mute, and full screen buttons while playing videos if desired

Attach Media to Documents

While creating or editing the document:

  1. Select the Media tab
  2. Use the following icons to add media:
    • Gallery icon - Select media from your device’s gallery
    • Camera icon - Use the device’s camera to snap a live photo
    • Video icon - Use the device’s camera to capture a live video

Select an Image or Video from Your Device Gallery

While creating or editing the document:

  1. Select the Media tab, then select the Gallery icon
  2. Choose the media you would like to attach, then select Add
  3. Optional: Add markups to images if desired
  4. Select the checkmark when finished

Snap a Live Photo from Your Device

While creating or editing the document:

  1. Select the Media tab, then select the Camera icon
  2. Frame the shot and snap the photo, then select Use Photo
  3. Optional: Snap more photos if desired
  4. Optional: Add markups to images if desired
  5. Select the checkmark when finished

Record a Live Video from Your Device

While creating or editing the document:

  1. Select the Media tab, then select the Video icon
  2. Frame the shot and record the video, then select Use Video
  3. Optional: Record more videos if desired
  4. Select the checkmark when finished

Selection mode marks each chosen item; Delete removes them and Cancel exits.

Remove Media from Documents

Remove a Single Media Item

While creating or editing the document:

  1. Select the Media tab
  2. Select the thumbnail of the media item to view it in full screen, then select Delete
  3. Select the checkmark when finished

Remove Multiple Media Items

While creating or editing the document:

  1. Select the Media tab
  2. Select the Select button, then use the selection buttons that appear on each image to choose one or more items
  3. Select Delete to remove the selected media, or Cancel to exit selection mode
  4. Select the checkmark when finished

Add Markups to Images

While creating or editing the document:

  1. Select the Media tab
  2. Select the thumbnail of the media to view it in full screen, then select Markup
    • Freehand Markup - Select your desired color for the markup, then use a finger to draw a freehand markup on the image
      • Select Undo Markup to remove the last markup
    • Text Markup - Double tap the image where you would like the text to appear, then select your desired text color and size, enter your text, and select Save
      • Select Undo Text to remove the last text markup
  3. Select the checkmark when finished
