User Personas: Project Manager | Field User
eSUB Drive is a centralized file storage and management system for your organization. Company files stored in eSUB Drive are available to users in the office and in the field.
File storage at the project level lives in the project under Project Drive, which holds the files that are only pertinent to that project and is only accessible to members of the project.
The mobile app gives you read access to both. You can browse folders and open files from your phone or tablet, which covers the common field need of pulling up a spec, a submittal, or a plan sheet while you are on site.
To perform the actions in this article, you need the Company Drive - General Permissions and Project Drive - General Permissions permissions.
This article covers the mobile component of eSUB Drive and Project Drive. For the web component and additional details, see: eSUB Drive and Project Drive.

Access eSUB Drive on Mobile
eSUB Drive is reached from the slide-out menu, and Project Drive is reached from inside a project. Both open the same folder browser.
Contents are sorted alphabetically. Folders are listed first in alphabetical order, and the files in that folder follow below them, also in alphabetical order. This matches how the same Drive is ordered on the web, so a folder you know by position on your desktop sits in the same place on your phone.
| Drive files are read-only on mobile. Editing a file, annotating it in a way that sticks, or saving a changed copy back to the Drive is done on the web. |
View Company Files
|
|
From any screen in the app:
Folders open one level at a time. Use the back control to step back up to the parent folder.
|
| A folder lists the files it holds along with any subfolders. Select a file to open it in the viewer. | |
View Project Files
|
|
From the Project Home Screen:
Project Drive shows only the files stored on that project. A user who is not a member of the project cannot reach them. Preview a FileSelecting a PDF hands it to your device's native PDF viewer rather than opening it inside eSUB Fusion. That is worth knowing, because the controls you get are your phone or tablet's controls, not the app's, and they vary by device and operating system. |
|
If your device's viewer offers annotation tools, you can mark the file up. Those markups are written to the copy your device is holding, not to the file in eSUB Drive. Nothing is uploaded back, and the next person to open that file from the Drive sees the original. | |
|
There is a field workaround when you need an annotated document back in eSUB to attach to a document (e.g. Daily Report, Field Note, COR, etc.) as Media. Open the file from the Drive, let it open in your device's PDF viewer, and annotate it there if your device supports it. Use your device's native screenshot function to capture the annotated page. As long as your device saves screenshots to its photo or media gallery, you can then attach that image as media on a Daily Report, Field Note, or any other document that accepts media. |
What Drive Supports on Mobile
The app is deliberately a read surface for Drive. Knowing what it does not do saves a trip to the trailer:
| Action | On mobile |
| Browse folders and open files | Supported in both eSUB Drive and Project Drive. |
| Sort order | Alphabetical. Folders are listed first, then files, each group sorted alphabetically. There is no control to change the sort. |
| Annotate a file | Depends on your device. Markups made in the device's PDF viewer stay on the device copy and are never written back to the Drive. |
| Upload a file | Not supported. Upload from the web. |
| Search for a file or folder | Not supported. There is no Drive search on mobile. |
| Offline access | Not supported. Drive content is not cached for offline use, so you need connectivity to browse or open files. |
| If crews need a document available without a signal, keep it attached to the document that needs it rather than relying on Drive. Attachments on Daily Reports, Field Notes, and Drawings sheets follow their own offline rules. |
